Why only rodents
Hoboken Rodent Control was set up to do one job properly. General pest companies juggle roaches, ants, bed bugs, termites and wasps on the same route, and rodent work tends to get the quick version: a few bait boxes and a return date. Rats and mice reward a slower approach that pays attention to how a particular building is put together.
So we do not treat insects, we do not handle bed bugs, and we do not do termite work. If that is what you need, we will tell you so on the phone rather than send someone out.
How we think about Hoboken buildings
Much of the housing here is attached: brick and brownstone row houses sharing party walls, many of them more than a century old, broken up into apartments and condos. A rodent problem in one unit is rarely contained to it. Mice follow the radiator risers and the gaps around old gas and water lines from floor to floor, and from one house into the next.
That is why our work leans so heavily on exclusion. Catching the animals already inside is necessary, but it is the sealing that decides whether you call us again in the spring.
Why we stay local
Working one small city has practical advantages. We know which blocks sit low and take on water, which stretches of Washington Street have restaurants backing onto shared alleys and yards, and how the brownstones on one street tend to differ from the walk-ups on the next. That local pattern-matching saves time on every inspection.
It also means we are around when something changes. If mice return after a cold snap, or a neighbor's renovation opens a new gap into your building, we are a short walk or drive away rather than a scheduling problem.
What you can expect from us
- A straight answer about whether you have rats, mice or both.
- An explanation of where they are coming in, shown to you where possible rather than described.
- A quote after we have seen the building, not before.
- Traps placed where children and pets cannot reach them.
- Honesty when the fix needs a contractor, a plumber or the building's owner rather than us.
